What are our values?
We facilitate regular pilgrimage, offering the faithful an opportunity for prayer, reflection, and renewal of faith. Through liturgies, retreats, and special devotions, visitors will deepen their spiritual connection to the Holy Martyrs of Uganda.
Cultural and Historical Significance
We invoke the rich legacy of African and African-descended saints in the global Church, and celebrate the faith and contributions of the African diaspora, within the local and broader Catholic communities. We share the stories of African saints to inspire the faithful and strengthen missionary efforts
Educational Mission
We educate the faithful about the life and legacy of our holy men and women, promoting awareness of their story and encouraging greater understanding of Christian witness in adversity. By showcasing their sacred witness, we do inspire the faithful to live out their vocations more fully.
Evangelization Hub.
Our center will become a beacon of hope and a center for missionary activity, drawing people from all backgrounds to encounter Christ. Serve as center for sharing the faith, promoting vocations, and encouraging dialogue about the universal nature of Catholicism.
Community Building
The shrine will become a landmark for both spiritual and cultural enrichment in Washington, D.C., and beyond. It will foster collaboration and unity among diverse Catholic and non-Catholic communities in the Washington, D.C. area and beyond.
Endowment Fund
The Uganda Martyrs Heritage Endowment Fund is conceived as a special purpose vehicle to provide long-term investment and financing for and by the African Diaspora, in support of Catholic causes, organizations and projects, in commemoration.
